Description: Abney Park Cemetery is an Old Victorian grave yard which over the last 166 years has been left to overgrow with trees creepers and all manor of plants. It is now run by a heritage trust as a nature reserve which tries to manage the overgrow but with limited success. This cemetery in Stoke Newington is a 32-acre 18th Century parkland that in 1840 became a non-denominational cemetery that was part of the Magnificent Seven; a chain of cemeteries around London that would help ease the deplorable burial conditions in London's church graveyards.
