Description: This is a long layby off the A690 carriageway, north from Houghton-le-Spring towards Sunderland. As you drive up the carriageway from Houghton-le-Spring, you come up the hill and the layby is immediately on the left-hand side, located 0.7 miles from the village. You can also use the footpath alongside the A690 to walk/cycle there.
The layby is very long, and you could park at least forty cars there. However, no cruising action occurs in the layby; the layby is just for parking. In the middle of the layby, there is a wide and mown footpath between two large boulders which goes up to a dense area of bushes, woods and open areas. It is that area which is cruisy.
There are open areas, yet surrounded by bushes which would make this a good area for sunbathing discreetly. The bushes are well-used for sex, given the amount of sex litter and lingerie discarded.
