Description: This beach is some distance from the crowds. The families that go there tend to swim and hang close by to the car parks. It's a sandy beach, so when walking the tracks it pays to have footwear.
2 July 2020: Temporary closure of Five Mile Bay
A rahui (temporary closure) has been placed over the Five Mile Bay Recreation Reserve by Ngati Tuwharetoa.
Visitors are asked to visit alternative reserves, and for campers to use alternative campgrounds during the rahui. Freedom camping is not allowed at 5 Mile Bay.
